Saturday 25 November 2017

Monday 27 November is a Teacher Only Day. There will be no school for our children. If you need care for your children on Monday you can contact Mary-Ann Roling on 347 0709 or 0211 215599

Tuesday we have an Advent Liturgy in the hall at 10 am.

Wednesday we have speech finals with two children from each classroom. Sara and Jesse are our representatives. Flossy is our back up person just in case anyone is away sick. Congratulations to these people for wonderful speeches.

I was really impressed to see so many confident speakers in Room 3. All the children did a super job.

Thursday is our trip to Rainbow and Fairy Springs. Please bring a large drink, lots of lunch, a sunhat and sunscreen. Wear mufti, you might bring a change of clothes in case you get really wet on the "Big Splash".

Friday is the retreat day for Yr 6's. This will take place in the Church Hall. Please go to your classrooms FIRST. Year 5's will be completing their leadership applications for next year, thinking about what skills they have and what makes a great leader.

To St Mary’s parents, caregivers and community,
Last year our church community supported ‘Angel Tree’ which is a branch of the ‘Prison Fellowship of New Zealand’ (PFNZ), a Christian charitable organisation that was founded over 40 years ago.  For  18 years PFNZ and angel tree have been making a difference at Christmas for children with a parent or grandparent in prison.  Last year nearly 4000 children benefitted nationwide, and our church community supported 42 of those children.  This year through our school community we are hoping to support 50 local Rotorua children.
This is how it works and how you can help.  By the end of this week a Christmas tree will be in the office foyer with 50 gift tags on it. On each tag is written a child’s name, age and a present suggestion from their caregivers.  Gifts are $25 each, please support angel tree by taking a tag and buying a present.  When you have bought the present bring it back to school UNWRAPPED and with the tag attached by Friday 8th December.
If you can’t get to the school office to pick up a tag, please text or phone me and a tag will be sent home in an envelope with your child. Angel tree would prefer that children didn’t select the tags to take them home.
Your support helps local Rotorua children receive a gift from their loved one at Christmas.
For any questions or to organise a tag to be sent home please phone Rachel Schuster on 0274461351
Thank you for your help and support,

The Rotorua Angel tree team

The Young Vinnies are also coordinating a ‘can drive’ and the cans will be given to the Vinnies food bank.

BRING YOUR TOGS EVERYDAY - We have swim tutors coming to help us get better with our technique for the next two weeks   - You must have a note if not swimming or will be using school spare togs.

  • We are starting our Young Vinnies can collection for Christmas. Please bring in a can of food to donate. Write your house on it so you get a point for your house.
  • There will be extra Kapahaka practices this week for students involved in Ahurei.

  • Year 6 Orientation Day. You will have been advised by JPC via email that this day is the 21st of November and runs from 12 pm until 2.30 pm. This year a bus will NOT be provided by JPC therefore parents will need to take children to, and pick up from JPC. We understand that this will be difficult for some working parents and would suggest you might like to share transporting with other families.
