Homework

Homework will be renewed every two weeks.

Mathematics: Complete 20 minutes of Maths Whiz three times a week.

Spelling: On Monday you will find out which group you are in and you will be shown the Essential spelling lists. Everyone will begin learning words on the spelling lists which can be found on the Learning site. There will be a number of words you know already, so ask someone at home to test you and then make a list of the words you don't know and concentrate on those. Move up the lists until you have a lists of 20 - 30 words to learn over the next two weeks.

Group A - learn to spell all the words on list 2 first and then move onto list 3
Group B - learn to spell all the words on list 3 first and then move onto list 4
Group C - learn to spell all the words on list 4 first and then move onto list 5 and 6
Group D - learn to spell all the words on list 5 first and then move onto list 6 and 7

Go to freerice.com on the spelling site for 10 minutes three times a week to do vocabulary practice.

Reading: Read a book of choice for at least 15 minutes a day. Try to get into a reading routine that works with sports and other after school activities. Eg, you might read for 15 minutes before dinner or in bed before you go to sleep.

Create a reading log in your google drive where you can keep a record of which books you read. Include the title, author and whether the book is fiction or non-fiction. This will allow you to check that you are reading a range of different types of books, articles or other texts.

Topic: Choose one community that you belong to and create a poster, slide show, powerpoint etc to show how you fit into that particular community.

  • Describe the community.
  • What is your role in the community?
  • Who are the members of the community?
  • Why is this community important to you?
You will share your presentation to a group of children in two weeks time.
